Kevin Kline was born on October 24, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from Indiana University in Bloomington, Kline completed his graduate studies in Drama at the Juilliard School in New York. In 1972, Kline joined the Acting Company in New York which was run by actor John Houseman. With this company, Kline performed Shakespeare across the country. Kline's roles as Hamlet and Romeo won rave reviews from critics and audiences. Kline went to Hollywood where his first film was 'Sophie's Choice (1982)'. In this film he would be nominated for a Golden Globe and receive acclaim. His work in the ensemble cast of 'The Big Chill' would again be highly successful. With his role as Otto "Don't call me Stupid!" West in the film 'A Fish Called Wanda (1988)', Kline would win the Oscar for Supporting Actor. Kline could play classic roles such as Hamlet or a comedic role in Soapdish. Kline had Golden Globe nominations for 'Soapdish (1991)' and 'Dave'. Kevin Kline’s most recent film is Life as a House. He is married to actress Phoebe Kates.
